I have been thinking about what to write for this post for a while and have come to the conclusion that it is difficult to really summarize all the ways why education is crucial because education comes in all forms and starts at birth from the very first skills and habits a baby learns, to the years of learning the ABC's and 123's in school, to the things that are learned throughout life about life. Everyone, in my opinion, not just teachers, should read the book EDUCATION by Ellen G. White at some point. It has been a great tool and guide for me in building my teaching philosophy in and outside the classroom! Probably a couple of the most well known quotes from the book and ones that I take to heart for myself and my students is on page 17. "It is the work of true education to develop this power, to train the youth to be thinkers, and not mere reflectors of other men's thoughts." and on page 18, "Higher then the highest human thought can reach is God's ideal is for his children. Godliness-godlikeness-is the goal to be reached." Good stuff! Read the rest of the book!

To add to that, education should never end. If you stop learning you stop living. There is always something new to learn and most of the time it is not strictly academic.
I think achieving a high level of education is important yet if a person with a masters degree doesn't know how to successfully live life, is it really worth it? I feel like it is important to not only strive for academic success but to be a top notch pupil in the classroom of life as well. Get your hands dirty, explore, learn about other cultures, other personalities, get outside your comfort zone, help others, challenge yourself, try new things, have fun, laugh, cry, love.
I believe it takes a lifetime but in order to gain a doctorate degree in life it is above all it absolutely essential to trust in God and follow his ultimate plan for your life. God is the master teacher after all who could be better to learn from?
